Lola Rennt

Last night I watched Run Lola Run for about the twentieth time. Have you seen it? It's one of my favorite movies, and I never manage to get sick of it. Run Lola Run is a German film about a girl who has to come up with $100,000 in 20 minutes to help get her boyfriend out of trouble. This movie's unique in a lot of ways but mostly because it is cut up into 3 chapters. Each chapter is a different look at what could possibly happen to Lola in these 20 minutes she has to come up with the money. Franka Potente (from Bourne Identity) stars in it and does a great job. I hadn't watched the movie in quite a while, so I almost forgot how much I love the flashback scene where Lola is talking to her boyfriend and asks him to try and describe his feelings for her. I think the scene's pretty funny, 'cause it's typical of what happens when girls try and ask their boyfriends about their feelings. The clip I found includes the few minutes leading up to the flashback, so you have to wait a bit to get to it.

18-26-06

I worked for Franklin Covey when I lived down in Provo several years ago. It was a requirement for all employees to own a Franklin planner, so I got one. I ended up only using the "Notes" section of the planner and filled it up with all sorts of stuff that I felt worthy of writing down for future reference. I'm always writing stuff down that I feel is important but end up just filing the notes away and never looking at them again. I came across my old planner recently and found the following jotted down on a few of the pages in the Notes section; it has to have been over 4 years since I've looked through this thing:

QUOTES

"Experience is a hard teacher, because she gives the test first, the lesson afterwards." - Vernon Sanders Law

"No matter how far you have gone on the wrong road, turn back." - Turkish Proverb

"Approach love and cooking with reckless abandon." - ?

"Procrastination--Hard work often pays off after time, but laziness always pays off now." - ?

"Sometimes, to get ready for the next great thing in your life, you have to say goodbye to the first great thing." - ?

Can I Have Your Number?

Melanie and Luke showed me this a little while ago. Ladies, have you ever had this happen to you? My guess is that yes, you have. This happens all too often to unsuspecting victims all around the world, causing innocent girls everywhere to cut their losses and abandon their lunches. If this hasn't happened to you, beware; you will most likely be approached in food courts of shopping malls or while trying to relax at your favorite community park.

The Small and Simple Things

I started working in the graduation office on campus a few weeks ago and really like it so far. I get to help students get set for graduation, so it's really fun to see them come in all excited about finally being able to get their degrees. This past Friday, as part of my job, I had to attend the big general commencement at the Dee Events Center. It was nice to be there and all, but the University's commencement wasn't half as cool as the kindergarten graduation I was able to attend the day before. Check out these "during" and "after" graduation highlights in honor of Isaac Philemon...

DURING......................... AFTER
DURING: Miss Maya attentively watching her big brother on stage.

AFTER: Maya being restrained by her dad after getting caught running loose through the elementary school hallways. Sometimes Dads are big drags.

AFTER: The New Graduate! In all my life, I've never been more proud of someone wearing a trash bag. Way to be, Isaac!
